-- Consider the following --
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Or is it?.

Eyeman counting
If the average word is 9 characters long including overhead.
Then a picture is only worth 9,000 bytes.
A 640 X 480 full color image can take over 900,000 bytes.
Clearly an image can cost a hundred thousand words.
Is it worth it?. Maybe, maybe not!!
Many people think their images are worth every bit of it.
I do, sometimes.

The problem is the information highway is a dirt road.
The carts and oxen slow down carrying heavy images.
During rush hour in the rainy season.
The carts become mired in the swamp.
We need to help push the carts.
You can't physically push in the new reality.
You must say the magic word.
And the images become lighter.

In the beginning there was only darkness,
printed on green and white striped paper.
And the people said
"Make it better" .
The image format was created.
As time passed the image format mutated into new formats
and their decedents mutated.



Having my browser stuck in a mutant filled swamp
is one of my greatest fears.
Better say that magic word
