Real Graphics

Real graphics are made of objects. Objects can be individually moved and changed. Objects can be scaled bigger or smaller without loss of resolution. Objects can be output with very high resolution.

Graphics has two broad categories.

The first is Computer Aided Drafting . It creates anything from house plans to circuit boards. This graphics is made with a CAD program like ACAD from AutoDesk

The second is Graphic Arts This makes things like Company logos and Brochures. Graphics are made on a DRAW program like CorelDraw by Corel and Freehand by Aldus.

Objects are made of vectors, a line with a direction and distance.

The width of the line and line color is stored. If it's a box or other closed area the fill color or pattern can be specified, like clouds.

There is allot more than just the basic vector information stored. A sequence of lines can be made by connecting them together end to end.
Each connection is called a node .

A Node doesn't have to be straight. The amount and type of curve can be controlled. There are two handles associated with a node.

As you move the handles closer to the node the curves get's tighter.

One side can be connected to a straight line while the other is a curve.
The handles don't have to be across from each other.

An object can have a number of different nodes in a sequence.
There are programs that will trace bit-mapped images.

A circle has four nodes.
